There’s nothing more rewarding than creating an experience that is both memorable and enjoyable for my clients. Recently, I had the opportunity to document a beautiful family session that tied in with filming a behind-the-scenes video. The goal was to showcase the creativity and effort that goes into capturing those precious moments. With our local bushland as the setting, this session was truly a labor of love.
The family I was photographing was a joy to work with. Their two kids, Em and Ellie, have grown up with my own children. Having known them all for many years, I knew that their playful personalities would shine through in the images. The parents, Rob and Donna, were equally enthusiastic and ready to make the session a memorable experience.
We started the session with some candid shots. The kids’ laughter filled the air as they chased each other along the dirt track that wound through the tall trees. I encouraged the family to interact naturally, resulting in genuine smiles and heartfelt moments that were a joy to capture. Rob and Donna walking hand in hand with Em, Ellie twirling in her dress, and lots of infectious giggles. Each photograph was a testament to the love and connection they shared.
While photographing the family, my videographer skillfully documented the behind-the-scenes action. The video captured the essence of what goes into a real family session—the laughter, the spontaneity, and the effort to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. It also showcased the technical aspects, from setting up games to get them lost in the moment, to finding the perfect angles, giving viewers a glimpse into my creative process.
As the session came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of fulfillment. The photographs and behind-the-scenes video not only captured the beauty of the location, but also the genuine emotions and connections within the family. It allowed me to share the artistry and dedication that go into creating those fun and memorable moments.
